SEATTLE (Nov. 8) Just two undefeated
women's soccer teams remain in NCAA Division II, and only one will
have a chance to play for the national championship.
No. 2-ranked Seattle Pacific University
(17-0-3) and No. 1 Metro State (21-0-0) of Denver could
conceivably meet in the quarterfinal round of the tournament. They
finished the regular season atop the NSCAA/adidas women's soccer
coaches poll.
SPU is the top seed in the Far West Regional,
which begins Thursday at Interbay Stadium. Metro State is the No.
1 seed in the Midwest. The Far West winner will host the Midwest
victor Nov. 19.
Other ranked teams from the Far West Region are
No. 13 UC San Diego and No. 19 Cal State Dominguez Hills, which
are paired in the first regional semifinal Thursday at 4:30.
Seattle Pacific plays Chico State in the nightcap at 7.
