Falcon Men Travel to California for NCAA Men's Soccer Regional
November 7, 2005

SEATTLE (Nov. 7) Back in the NCAA Division II men's soccer tournament for a record 29th time, Seattle Pacific University is seeded No. 2 in the Far West Regional beginning Saturday (Nov. 12) at Carson, Ca. The Falcons will face Sonoma State in a first-round game.

Host Cal State Dominguez Hills (16-4-2) is the top seed and received a bye. The Toros will await the winner of Saturday's 1 p.m. game. The regional championship game will be 1 p.m. Monday.

The Falcons (14-2-3), ranked No. 5 in last week's national coaches poll, finished the regular season on a five-game win streak. They defeated Sonoma State 2-0 at Interbay Stadium Sept. 3. The Seawolves (12-8-2) beat Dominguez Hills twice, 6-0 at home and 1-0 in the CCAA title game Sunday at a neutral site.

It was Cal State Dominguez Hills' 2-1 victory over Seattle Pacific Sept. 10 which likely determined which the high seed. The winning goal was scored on a deflected shot with 43 seconds remaining.

The Far West winner will face the Midwest champion in the national quarterfinal round Nov. 19 at a site to be determined. Fort Lewis (Co.), the No. 1 team in the nation, is the top seed in the Midwest.

A total of 24 teams received tournament berths nationwide. The NCAA semifinals and championship game are Dec. 1 and 3 in Wichita Falls, Tx.
