SPU Leads Way With 19 GNAC Soccer Academic Awards

SEATTLE (Nov. 2) -- Seattle Pacific University has placed a league-high 18 soccer players­nine men and 10 women­on the 2005 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Soccer Academic all-star team.

The Falcons feature five three-time selections. Among those was Allison Teague (Sr., Redmond, Wa./Bellevue Christian), who had the highest grade point average among the SPU selections at 3.94. Other three-time selections are Michelle Everson (Jr., Tacoma, Wa./Stadium), Jean Kolb (Sr., Eugene, Or./South Eugene), Megan Lienhard (Sr., Everett, Wa./Cascade) and Ross Vaillancourt (Sr., Bedford, NH/Manchester West).

There were four repeat recipients for the men: Greg Truax (Sr,. Corvallis, Or.), Kye Taylor (Sr., Powell river, BC/Cameron), Michael Morris (Jr., Bothell, Wa./Blanchet) and Andy Willis (Jr., Gig Harbor, Wa.). Mollie Taylor (Jr., Westlake Village, Ca.) and Heidi Jacobson (Sr., Kirkland, Wa./Cedar Park Christian) had made the women's team previously.

A total of 42 women and 15 men were honored altogether.To be eligible for the academic team, student-athletes must have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 and be in at least their second year of competition at their university.
