18th-Ranked Falcons Move Into GNAC's Second Place With Fifth-Straight Volleyball Sweep

FAIRBANKS, Ak. (Oct. 20) Sophomores Alyssa Given and Angie Wodrich each had a match-high 12 kills to lead Seattle Pacific to its fifth straight victory, a 3-0 sweep of Alaska Fairbanks in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference match Thursday night at UAF’s Patty Center.

Seattle Pacific (10-2 GNAC, 16-5), ranked No. 18 in NCAA II, moved into a tie for second place with Seattle University with the 30-22, 30-16, 30-23 victory. The Falcons have swept all five opponents during their current win streak.

Given (5-10, Salinas, Ca./Notre Dame) also had two service aces and a pair of blocks in the win. Wodrich (5-10, Richland, Wa.) finished with a .391 hitting percentage and also had eight digs.

Katie Ralph (Sr., 6-0, Port Orchard, Wa./South Kitsap) added seven kills and hit a blistering .700 for the match. Setter Jenna Von Moos (Jr., 5-10, Stanwood, Wa.) finished with two kills, 40 assists and 12 digs. Torii Mount (Fr., 5-2, Gresham, Or.) led all players with 21 digs.

Crystal Wheelock had eight kills and eight digs in the loss for the Nanooks (1-11, 1-15). Jenna Jones added five kills and 10 digs.

The Falcons next play at Alaska Fairbanks in a GNAC match Saturday at 8:00 p.m.
