October 19, 2005

SEATTLE (Oct. 19) Jessie Menkens, a native of Battle Ground and former women's basketball standout for Prairie High School, has transferred to Seattle Pacific University from Pacific (Ca.).

Menkens, a 5-foot-9 guard, averaged 6.3 points in two seasons for the Tigers. She played in all 56 games, starting 39. Menkens was named to the All-Big West Freshman Team in 2005.

Previously, Menkens led Prairie to the state 4A championship, earning tournament MVP honors as a senior. She was an all-state selection and the MVP of the Great St. Helens League.

Seattle Pacific is in its first season under new coach Julie van Beek. The Falcons were 30-3 and NCAA Division II runners-up last season. They feature four returning starters.
