SEATTLE, Wa. (Sept. 24)Tricia Loomis
scored twice and Shannon Lovejoy registered a goal and an assist
as nationally 2nd-ranked Seattle Pacific University booted
Humboldt State 3-0, in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference womens
soccer match Saturday afternoon at Interbay Stadium.
The Falcons (10-0/3-0-0) remained undefeated
with the win, and pushed their regular season unbeaten streak to
47 (45-0-2) games. SPU has not lost a GNAC match since Sept. 25,
2002 (33-0-2). Humboldt State dropped to 4-6-0/0-2-0 on the
season.
Loomis (So., Des Moines, Wa.) booted the
Falcons a 1-0 lead heading into the locker room at intermission
when she received a thru-pass on the right side from teammate
Shannon Lovejoy (Sr., Seattle, Wa.), and beat Humboldt State
keeper Staci Self to the near post with a hard, low shot (37:23).
Lovejoy threaded the ball between two defenders.
Twenty minutes into the second half, Lovejoy
connected on a penalty kick for her second goal of the season
after a Humboldt defender took down forward Sarah Martinez (So.,
Bothell, Wa.) in the box. Lovejoy, a returning All-American has a
team-high seven assists on the season.
Loomis hit net for the second time on a penalty
kick at 88:13 for the final margin.
Seattle Pacific out-shot the Lumberjacks 18-0,
as the Falcon defense kept HSU out of the attacking third the
majority of the game. Jennifer Burns earned the shutout in goal
for SPU while Self saved eight balls.
Seattle Pacific finishes out a four game home
stand Wednesday night with a conference counter against Western
Washington (Sept. 28). Official start time is 7PM.
