Loomis, Lovejoy Boot Second-Ranked SPU Women Over Humboldt
September 22, 2005

SEATTLE, Wa. (Sept. 24)—Tricia Loomis scored twice and Shannon Lovejoy registered a goal and an assist as nationally 2nd-ranked Seattle Pacific University booted Humboldt State 3-0, in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference women’s soccer match Saturday afternoon at Interbay Stadium.

The Falcons (10-0/3-0-0) remained undefeated with the win, and pushed their regular season unbeaten streak to 47 (45-0-2) games. SPU has not lost a GNAC match since Sept. 25, 2002 (33-0-2). Humboldt State dropped to 4-6-0/0-2-0 on the season.

Loomis (So., Des Moines, Wa.) booted the Falcons a 1-0 lead heading into the locker room at intermission when she received a thru-pass on the right side from teammate Shannon Lovejoy (Sr., Seattle, Wa.), and beat Humboldt State keeper Staci Self to the near post with a hard, low shot (37:23). Lovejoy threaded the ball between two defenders.

Twenty minutes into the second half, Lovejoy connected on a penalty kick for her second goal of the season after a Humboldt defender took down forward Sarah Martinez (So., Bothell, Wa.) in the box. Lovejoy, a returning All-American has a team-high seven assists on the season.

Loomis hit net for the second time on a penalty kick at 88:13 for the final margin.

Seattle Pacific out-shot the Lumberjacks 18-0, as the Falcon defense kept HSU out of the attacking third the majority of the game. Jennifer Burns earned the shutout in goal for SPU while Self saved eight balls.

Seattle Pacific finishes out a four game home stand Wednesday night with a conference counter against Western Washington (Sept. 28). Official start time is 7PM.
