Travel, Fatigue Take Toll on No. 10 SPU Men in 1-1 Draw at Regis
September 14, 2005

Complete Box Score

DENVER (Sept. 14) Kellen Rosten made a game-saving save in overtime, allowing 10th-ranked Seattle Pacific University to hold on for a 1-1 tie with Regis in a men's soccer game Wednesday afternoon.

James Coggan (So, San Jose, Ca.) came off the bench to score in the first half for the sluggish Falcons (5-1-2), who were playing their third road game in five days.

Coggan's second goal of the year came in the 38th minute after Michael Morris (Jr., Bothell, Wa./Blanchet) beat a defender on the left wing before playing a ball for Coggan to run onto and score from 8 yards.

With 25 seconds left in regulation, the Rangers (0-2-1) pulled even after a flurry of attacks. Jonathan Ramirez converted a corner kick from Josh Davids, sending the game into sudden death.

Rosten (So., Colorado Springs, Co.) made a reaction stop of Ramirez in the first extra period, parrying a 6-yard shot.

Seattle Pacific, coming off a 2-0 win at Cal State Bakersfield Monday night and playing at high altitude, had difficulty keeping possession yet still managed to dominate play for the first 80 minutes. The Falcons finished with a 27-16 advantage in shots and 12-9 in corner kicks.

Regis keeper Trevor Steege made 11 saves while Rosten had three.
