SEATTLE (Sept. 8) – Alyssa Given had a match-high 15 kills and 12 digs to lead Seattle Pacific to a three-game sweep of Chaminade in a non-conference volleyball match on Thursday night at Brougham Pavilion.

The Falcons, ranked No. 24 in NCAA II, improved to 6-3 on the year and snapped a two-match home losing streak with the 30-28, 30-27, 30-19 victory. The 18th-ranked Silverswords fell to 6-3.

Given (So., 5-10, Salinas, Ca./Notre Dame) also had a match-high four service aces and recorded a .382 hitting percentage. She had eight kills alone in Game 3. Chelsey Myers (Sr., 5-10, Minden, Nev./Douglas) helped Given put on the finishing touches with a combined nine kills in the final two games. She hit at a .500 clip.

The Falcons trailed by as many as four points in the second game and fell behind 23-20 before stringing together 10 of the next 14 points to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.

Rachel Biornstad (So., 6-0, Kent, Wa./Kentlake) added 11 kills on .429 hitting and five blocks in the victory. She set the tone early with a perfect four kills on four swings in Game 1. Seattle Pacific finished with a .212 hitting percentage as a team.

Despite the absence of leading blocker Katie Ralph (Sr., 6-0, Port Orchard, Wa./South Kitsap), who sat out with a minor injury to her hand, the Falcons posted defensive numbers better than their league-leading averages. SPU recorded 12 blocks and held Chaminade to a dismal .113 hitting percentage.

Whitney Dibble (Jr., 6-1, Reno, Nev./Galena) helped fill the void with seven block assists. Angie Wodrich (So., 5-10, Richland, Wa.) chipped in with eight kills and 15 digs.

Trina Kauliakamoa led the Silverswords with 13 kills and eight digs. Christina Williams added 11 kills, and Ashley Elliazar led all players with 19 digs.

The Falcons open Great Northwest Athletic Conference play Saturday night at Brougham Pavilion against Northwest Nazarene at 7:00 p.m.
