SAN SEBASTIAN, Spain (Aug. 25) Jack Hoyt,
a former All-American at Seattle Pacific University and more
recently the Falcons' head coach, finished second in the World
Masters decathlon for ages 40-44.
Hoyt, who won last year's U.S. title, scored
6942 points to claim the silver medal while fellow American Kip
Janvrin, a past Olympian and Pan Americans Games champion, won
with 8623. Estonia's Aivar Koiduste got the bronze medal with
6376.
Hoyt, 41, was runner-up to Janvrin, 40, in four
events and was virtually assured of second place following the
first day's five events.
Hoyt resigned from SPU after six seasons
earlier this week to accept an assistant coaching position at Cal
Poly San Luis Obispo.
