CHICO, Calif. (Aug. 25) Andy Willis
slammed home the game's only goal midway through the second half
as Seattle Pacific University opened it's men's soccer season with
a 1-0 win over Chico State Thursday night.
The Falcons (1-0-0) required only one save from
goalkeeper Kellen Rosten (So., Color ado Springs, Co.) to win
their first opener in three years.
Following a corner kick and failed clearance by
the Wildcats (0-1-0), Willis (Jr., Gig Harbor, Wa./Gig Harbor)
connected on a low 12-yard shot to the right side after Kye Taylor
(Sr., Powell River, BC) won the loose ball in the air.
Chico State threatened to score twice in the
final 10 minutes. Grant Meyer's shot hit the post in the 80th
minute and another effort whistled just wide three minutes later.
Seattle Pacific was out-shot 10-7 but owned a
9-4 advantage in corner kicks.

games, dating back to last season. It was the Falcons' third win
