SEATTLE (Aug. 22) Jared Moultrie, a
6-foot-2 guard from Salt Lake Community College, has signed a
basketball scholarship agreement with Seattle Pacific University.
Moultrie, who will be a junior next season,
started 31 games last season as Salt Lake CC went 27-6 and
finished second in the regional tournament. He averaged 4.4 points
and 3.5 assists and was an NJCAA national all-academic selection
as a sophomore.
Moultrie played his freshman season at Montana
State Northern. He was a first team all-state selection for
Clearfield (Ut.) High School in 2001, and was twice named to the
all-regional and all-area teams.
Seattle Pacific is coming off an appearance in
the NCAA Division II tournament and a 20-9 record under head coach
Jeff Hironaka. The Falcons, who earlier signed Sedro Woolley guard
Adam Wardell, Shorewood High forward Rob Diederichs and Montana
transfer Brian Lynch, will return three starters next season.
