Randolph, Ayers-Stamper Are GNAC Weekly Picks for Track
May 30, 2005

SEATTLE (May 30) Seattle Pacific University's Chris Randolph and Danielle Ayers-Stamper were named the men's and women's track and field athletes of the week in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference following their gold- and silver-medal performances, respectively, at the NCAA Division II Championships.

Randolph (Jr., Lone Tree, Co.) won the decathlon crown with a GNAC-record point total of 7309. He overcame a 622-point deficit in the final three events to claim the first national title by a SPU male in 13 years, set GNAC decathlon records in the 400 meters (49.82) and javelin (172-10) and also had personal bests in the long jump (22-4¼), 100 (11.30), pole vault (14-3¼) and 1500 (4:29.78).

Ayers-Stamper (Jr., Lacrosse, Wa.) was a two-time All-American, finishing second in the heptathlon with a GNAC-record score of 5,606 points, and also seventh in the 100 hurdles (14.39). Her heptathlon point total automatically qualifies her for the USATF championships June 25-26 in Carson, Calif. She set GNAC records in the 100 hurdles (13.70) and high jump (5-8¾) and also set a GNAC heptathlon record in the long jump (18-10¼) during the two-day competition.

Ayers-Stamper, who also had a personal best in the 200 (25.72), shared the weekly award with Western Oregon's Monica Smith.
