SEATTLE (May 25) Samantha Hufford, a
Sammamish resident who played at Washington State her first two
seasons, has transferred to Seattle Pacific University to play
women's soccer beginning next fall.
Hufford is a 2003 graduate of Eastlake High
School and saw action in three games for the Cougars as a
freshman, scoring a goal versus Idaho State.
"We are excited about Sam joining
our team because she is a wonderful match for our program as a
person, student and athlete," said coach Chuck Sekyra.
At Eastlake, Hufford led the Wolves to the
state4A championship, earning first team all-state and all-KingCo
honors.
Earlier, Jessica Gertsmann, a WSU redshirt
freshman forward from Puyallup, transferred to SPU.
Seattle Pacific has won three consecutive Great
Northwest Athletic Conference titles and has qualified for the
NCAA Division II tournament the past two seasons under Sekyra. The
Falcons were 19-1-2 last season and return seven starters.
