SEATTLE (May 16) Seattle Pacific
University 800-meter runners Paul Mach and Bridgette Sexton were
selected as the Great Northwest Athletic Conference track and
field athletes of the week for their performances at the Ken
Foreman Invitational.
Mach (Sr., Seattle, Wa./King's) finished second
in a time of 1:50.99, a mark which ranks second in GNAC history,
topped only by his 1:49.31 record time in last week's GNAC
championship meet. Mach, who was ranked second nationally in the
800 prior to this past weekend, has finished first or second in
eight of nine 800 races this spring.
Sexton (Fr., LaCenter, Wa.) ran the top GNAC
800 of the season (2:12.52) during the Foreman heptathlon, a time
which is among the top 16 in the nation. It was also the best-time
ever for a GNAC athlete in a heptathlon and the fourth-best mark
in conference history in any meet. Sexton shared her honor with
Monica Smith of Western Oregon.
