Mach, Studer Make GNAC Academic Team for Fourth Time

SEATTLE (May 12) -- Champion runner Paul Mach and pole vaulter Ally Studer led a list of five Seattle Pacific University men and 16 women named to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference track and field academic all-conference team announced Thursday.

Paul Mach and Ally Studer were named to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference track and field academic all-conference team. They are the only four-time honorees.

A total of 112 student-athletes­34 men and 78 women­were honored, and the SPU women were second only to Central Washington's 17 in number.

Mach (Sr., Seattle, Wa./King's) and Studer (Sr., Redmond, Wa./Redmond), both fifth-year seniors, were the only four-time honorees. Tim LeCount (Sr., Battle Ground, Wa.) is three-time selection. Making the team for a second time were Linda Blake (Jr., Richland, Wa.), Amy Harris (Jr., Corvallis, Or./Crescent Valley), Becky Knox (Jr., Denver, Co./Denver Christian), Allie Hedges (Jr., Richland, Wa.) and Chris Randolph (Jr., Lone Tree, Co./Denver Christian).

Mach is coming off his fifth career conference title and owns the No. 2 800-meters qualifying time in NCAA Division II. LeCount repeated as 5000 champion and Harris won the pole vault.

To be eligible for the academic team, student-athletes must have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 and be in at least their second year of competition at their university. They must also qualify to compete in either the GNAC indoor or outdoor championship meet.
