Gymnast Corrie McDaniel Earns NCAA Postgrad Scholarship
May 3, 2005

SEATTLE (May 3) -- Seattle Pacific University gymnast Corrie McDaniel, an All-American and regional athlete of the year during her senior season, has been awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.

McDaniel (Sr., Lawrence, Ks./Lawrence) becomes the second Falcon this year and, overall, the school's 17th individual NCAA postgraduate scholar.

A classic literature major, McDaniel has a cumulative grade point average of 3.74. She finished third on both balance beam and floor exercise at the USA Gymnastics Championships last month, and helped lead SPU to third place.

McDaniel completed her career as a four-time All-American, and ranked No. 2 all-time at SPU on floor and No. 5 in all-around.

The NCAA has awarded 56 postgraduate scholarships of $7,500 each to 28 male student-athletes and 28 female student-athletes who participated in winter sports.
