SEATTLE (May 3) -- Seattle Pacific University
gymnast Corrie McDaniel, an All-American and regional athlete of
the year during her senior season, has been awarded an NCAA
Postgraduate Scholarship.
McDaniel (Sr., Lawrence, Ks./Lawrence) becomes
the second Falcon this year and, overall, the school's 17th
individual NCAA postgraduate scholar.
A classic literature major, McDaniel has a
cumulative grade point average of 3.74. She finished third on both
balance beam and floor exercise at the USA Gymnastics
Championships last month, and helped lead SPU to third place.
McDaniel completed her career as a four-time
All-American, and ranked No. 2 all-time at SPU on floor and No. 5
in all-around.
The NCAA has awarded 56 postgraduate
scholarships of $7,500 each to 28 male student-athletes and 28
female student-athletes who participated in winter sports.
