SEATTLE (Apr. 18) Paul Mach and Danielle
Ayers-Stamper, both of Seattle Pacific University, were name the
male and female track and field athletes of the week in the Great
Northwest Athletic Conference after their respective wins at the
prestigious Mount Sac Relays.
Mach (Sr., Seattle, Wa./King's) won his section
of the 800 meters in a GNAC season-best time of 1:52.83. His mark
is the second fastest in GNAC history, just 0.31 seconds off the
conference record, and places him on the NCAA Division II
provisional qualifying list.
Ayers-Stamper (Jr., LaCrosse, Wa.) won the
Division I dominated heptathlon with a GNAC-record and
national-leading score of 5,491 points. She also set GNAC
heptathlon records in the 100 hurdles (14.11), high jump (5-7 1/4)
and 800 (2:21.01) in eclipsing the old conference point record by
102 points and the NCAA automatic qualifying standard by 241
points. It was the No. 3 all-time score for the Falcons.
Both Mach and Ayers-Stamper will compete
Saturday at the Oregon Invitational in Eugene.
