Mach, Ayers-Stamper Earn GNAC Athletes of Week Honors
April 18, 2005

SEATTLE (Apr. 18) Paul Mach and Danielle Ayers-Stamper, both of Seattle Pacific University, were name the male and female track and field athletes of the week in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference after their respective wins at the prestigious Mount Sac Relays.

Mach (Sr., Seattle, Wa./King's) won his section of the 800 meters in a GNAC season-best time of 1:52.83. His mark is the second fastest in GNAC history, just 0.31 seconds off the conference record, and places him on the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying list.

Ayers-Stamper (Jr., LaCrosse, Wa.) won the Division I dominated heptathlon with a GNAC-record and national-leading score of 5,491 points. She also set GNAC heptathlon records in the 100 hurdles (14.11), high jump (5-7 1/4) and 800 (2:21.01) in eclipsing the old conference point record by 102 points and the NCAA automatic qualifying standard by 241 points. It was the No. 3 all-time score for the Falcons.

Both Mach and Ayers-Stamper will compete Saturday at the Oregon Invitational in Eugene.
