SALEM, Ore. (Apr. 16) Seattle Pacific
University won both the men's and women's varsity four races at
the Governor's Cup rowing regatta Saturday on the Willamette
River.
Battling the rain and the river currents as
well as the competition, the Falcons pulled in front during the
final 800 meters to defeat Oregon by 4 seconds in the men's race
while the SPU women jumped on the Ducks from the outset to win
with plenty of open water. It was their second straight Governor's
Cup crown.
The men's junior varsity and novice fours each
finished third. The women's novice race was canceled.
Next Saturday Seattle Pacific races at the
Northwest Collegiate rowing Championships on Lake Stevens.
