Los Angeles, Ca. -- Danielle Ayers-Stamper of
Seattle Pacific University made an impressive multi-event debut by
winning two events and setting a personal record in another, at
the Mount SAC Relays Heptathlon on the campus of Azusa-Pacific
University Wednesday afternoon.
Ayers-Stamper (Jr. LaCrosse, Wa.), scored a
personal best 3257 points over four events and finished the first
day of the two-day competition 26 points off the pace of leader
Aja Frary of High Performance Track Club.
A 2004 NCAA Division II 4th place finisher and 03
U.S. junior national heptathlon runner-up, Ayers-Stamper needs to
score upwards of 5250 points to assure herself an automatic bid in
the seven event competition at the NCAA Championships in late May.
She began by running the 100-meter hurdles in
14.11 seconds. Next, she high-jumped 5 foot, 7¼ inches and
threw the shot 37-4 before finishing with a personal record time
of 25.89 in the 200 dash. Ayers-Stampers time in the final
event was a PR by over a full second. The junior notched wins in
the hurdles and high jump.
The Mt. SAC Heptathlon resumes with the long
jump on Thursday morning and winds up with the javelin and 800
meter run.
