Falcon Women Finish No. 2 in Women's Hoop Rankings
March 8, 2005

SEATTLE (Mar. 31) After advancing further in the NCAA tournament than ever before, Seattle Pacific University was duly voted the No. 2 spot in the final USA Today/ESPN women's basketball coaches poll for Division II.

Washburn (Ks.), which defeated the Falcons (30-3) for the national championship, got the No. 1 ranking. SPU moved up one place from its pre-Elite Eight position while Shaw, previously the top-ranked team, slid to No. 3.

It's the third straight season that SPU has finished among the top ten nationally. A year ago, Seattle Pacific finished No. 3 and it was No. 8 in 2003. Six of this season's record-tying 30 wins were against teams which finished among the top 25.
