SEATTLE (Mar. 19) In the spring debut,
the Seattle Pacific University crew swept four races in a
scrimmage with Pacific Lutheran on the Lake Washington Ship Canal
Saturday morning.
The Falcons' men's varsity and novices, women's
varsity and junior varsityall foursposted wins over
the their Lutes counterparts before the weather deteriorated.
Coach Keith Jefferson was particularly pleased
with the men's open crew, which had only two days of practice
together and overcame an equipment breakage with 500 meters left,
yet still prevailed by over 11 seconds.
The women's varsity broke the finish line near
the Ballard Bridge in 7 minutes, 52 seconds--an excellent time for
an opener.
Next Saturday, Seattle Pacific will row at the
Daffodil Cup on Tacoma's American Lake.
