SEATTLE (Mar. 7) Amy Taylor of Seattle
Pacific University has earned Daktronics All-West Region second
team honors in women's basketball after sparking the Falcons to
their third straight Great Northwest Athletic Conference
championship and the top seed in the NCAA Division II West
Regional.
Taylor (Sr., 5-8, Shoreline, Wa./Shorewood) is
the Falcons' leading scorer (12.6) and playmaker (3.8 assists).
She is third among GNAC players in three-point accuracy (.401).
Cal Poly Pomona's Candice Allen, who is the
nation's leading scorer averaging 28.3 points per game, was
selected as the region's player of the year, edging out Chico
State point guard Kim Abts for that honor. Joining them on the
first team are Katie McElree of Cal State Bakersfield, Cody
Burgess of Alaska Fairbanks and Martina Kartikova of Saint
Martin's.
