Chivers Repeats As All-GNAC Men's Basketball First Team Choice
March 7, 2005

SEATTLE (Mar. 8) Jason Chivers of the Seattle Pacific University men's basketball team has been voted to the all-Great Northwest Athletic Conference first team for the second year in a row.

Chivers (Sr., 6-8, Los Angeles, Ca.) becomes the first SPU player to repeat as a first team selection since Jeff McBroom in 1998 and '99. He leads the team in scoring (15.9), rebounding (10.2), field-goal percentage (.588) and blocked shots (1.14), and ranks among the GNAC leaders in all four categories. He is 13th among NCAA Division II rebounders.

Chivers was the only SPU player to make either the first or second team all-GNAC. Joining him on the all-conference first team were player of the year Brad Oleson of Alaska Fairbanks; Ryan Diggs and Grant Dykstra of Western Washington, and Mesut Ademoglu of Northwest Nazarene. Oleson joins Chivers as the only repeat selections. He was also player of the year in 2004.

Tony Binetti (Jr., 6-1, Enumclaw, Wa.) earned honorable mention all-conference after averaging 13.4 points and shooting 49.3 percent on three-pointers and 54.3 percent overall. He leads the team in assists (4.4) and steals (1.7).

The Falcons earned a trip to the NCAA tournament by going 20-8 and finishing third in the GNAC. They face Cal Poly Pomona in a first round game at the West Regional Friday at 12:30 in Bellingham.
