Seattle Pacific Women's Relay Team hits NCAA Track Qualifying Time

SEATTLE (Feb. 26) ­ Seattle Pacific University all but assured itself of sending a women’s distance medley relay team to the NCAA Division II Indoor track & field championships after winning the Great Northwest Athletic Conference last chance meet in a school-record time Saturday at the Dempsey Indoor.

The foursome of Josie Lavin, Kinyatta Leonhardt, Bridgette Sexton and Karen Dickson easily took first in a time of 11 minutes, 55.21 seconds. That time ranks No. 3 among national qualifiers this winter.

Also winning for the Falcon women were Danielle Ayers-Stamper in the 200-meter dash (26.37), long jump (19-1½) and the 60 hurdles (8.73), and Kristin Janney in the 60 dash (8.29).

For the SPU men, Ryan Jewell took first in the 60 dash (7.22), Chris Randolph won the long jump (21-7¼)and the distance medley won in 10:17.75.

Outdoor meets commence with a three-way meet at Puget Sound next Saturday. The NCAA indoor meet begins Mar. 11 in Boston.
