CORVALLIS, Ore. (Feb. 25) - Despite a
solid showing on floor exercise, Seattle Pacific University fell
to Oregon State and California in a three-way meet Friday night at
Gill Coliseum before a crowd of 2,908.
The Beavers, ranked No. 12 in Division I,
pushed their win streak to seven in a row as they outscored both
teams in each of the four events. Their score of 195.925 was the
second-highest of the season. The Golden Bears totaled 190.925
with the Falcons at 190.300.
Debra Huss (So., Orangevale, Ca.) saw her run
of three consecutive all-around titles snapped by California's
My-Lan Dodd (39.200). Huss was second at 38.700 and Sarah Sullivan
(So., Salem, Or.) was third at 38.075.
Huss was the Falcons' high scorer on bars
(9.750), beam (9.700) and floor (9.725) and the team totaled
48.275 on the latter. Huss finished fifth on the bars for the
team's best placement on an apparatus. Kari Kelly (Jr., Yakima,
Wa./West Valley) was sixth on vault (9.700).
Megan Devencenzi of OSU scored 9.850 to earn
the vault title. The Beavers' Heidi Goehring and and Thérèse
Videan each scored 9.825 to share the bars title. Plourde¹s
9.900 on beam was the highest score of the meet Videan won the
floor with a 9.875.
Seattle Pacific had to count a sub-9.0 score on
beam, totaling just 47.125.
The Falcons host Sacramento State Saturday
night at 7.
