SEATTLE (Feb. 16) Jessica Gerstmann, a
redshirt freshman forward from Puyallup, is transferring from
Washington State, and will play for Seattle Pacific University's
women's soccer team beginning next fall.
Gerstmann appeared in three games for the
Cougars last season and was a redshirt due to an ankle injury in
2003. She will have three years of remaining eligibility with the
Falcons.
As a senior at Cascade Christian High School,
Gerstmann scored 17 goals and added 20 assists to earn Chinook
League co-MVP honors. She was first team all-area and also played
club soccer for F.C. Royals, the state champions her final two
seasons.
"With her speed, intensity and
ability to change a game, Jessica is going to have an immediate
impact on our team," said SPU coach Chuck Sekyra. "She's
hungry for the opportunity to contribute here, and we feel she's
going to be an exciting player for us."
Earlier this month, Sekyra signed seven high
school seniors to national letters of intent . Coming off their
finest season, including a third straight conference championship
and second NCAA Division II tournament appearance, the Falcons
received commitments from Jen Burns, Claire Grubbs, Lacey Keyser,
Michelle Musser, Shannon Oakes, Katie Taylor and Meredith Teague.
