Beavers Gymnasts Win at Brougham, SPU's Reynolds Ties Vault Record
February 3, 2005

SEATTLE, Wa. (Feb. 12)—Chrissy Lamun and Chelsey Plourde tied for first on two different events and SPU’s Jaynie Reynolds tied a school record on vault as Division I 21st-ranked Oregon State out-tumbled USA Gymnastics No. 1 Seattle Pacific University 195.675 to 192.100 in a women’s gymnastics meet Saturday night at Brougham Pavilion.

The Beavers (7-3) got podium finishes from eight different athletes en route to their second meet win in as many nights. Friday, Oregon State topped a tri-meet at Washington. Seattle Pacific’s team total was a season high.

Plourde and Lamun, along with teammate Lindsay Nelson, swung identical 9.850s on the uneven bars . One event later, the pair turned around to hit 9.850 again on balance beam, tying with teammate Daylee Ingalls for first. Ingalls also tied for third on vault with teammate Yuki Lamb (9.825). Theresa Videan was second (9.850).

The Falcons’ Jaynie Reynolds (Jr., White Rock, B.C.) garnered one of Seattle Pacific’s two first place finishes during the opening rotation. The senior all-arounder launched a school record 9.875 vault, tying her with current teammate Kari Kelly (Sr., Yakima, Wa.) on the all-time charts. Kelly launched an identical score at the Salsbageon Invitational in Corvallis, in 2004.

Reynolds managed third in the all-around contest, but left floor exercise with an ankle injury. Debra Huss (So., Orangevale, Ca.) won the four-event contest with a season high 38.725. Sarah Sullivan (So., Salem, Or.) finished second with 38.625.

Seattle Pacific’s Corrie McDaniel (Sr., Lawrence, Ks.) danced her way to the top of the podium on floor exercise, finishing in a three-way tie with Oregon State’s Heidi Goehring and Angela Morales at 9.800.

Oregon State resumes Pac-10 competition at Arizona Friday night (Feb. 18) while the Falcons (1-6) are on the road the next three meets, beginning Friday with a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation contest at UC Davis. Saturday night, SPU duals with San Jose State.
