Seattle Pacific Men Break Into Hoops Top 10 at No. 8
January 25, 2005

SEATTLE (Jan. 25) Seattle Pacific University's rapid rise in the NCAA Division II men's basketball national rankings continued this week as the Falcons achieved their highest ranking in three years, breaking into the top 10 at No. 8.

A week after making its debut in the poll at No. 11, SPU moved up three spots following home wins over Alaska Anchorage and then-16th-ranked Alaska Fairbanks. The Falcons (14-3) have won four in a row and 12 of their last 13 going into Thursday's game at Western Oregon.

Seattle Pacific is the only Div. II member which can claim both its men's and women's teams are among their respective top 10. The SPU women are No. 2 this week.

At the top of the men's poll, Virginia Union replaced Metropolitan State (Co.). Only one other West Region team is in the top 25; Hawaii Hilo, which defeated the Falcons Nov. 26, is No. 17.

This marks the highest SPU ranking since a No. 7 listing on Feb. 11, 2002.
