Seattle Pacific Women Rise to No. 3 in Nation
January 18, 2005

SEATTLE (Jan. 18) ­Seattle Pacific University took a step up the NCAA Division II women's basketball rankings this week, matching their season-opening position at No. 3.

For the second week in a row there was a change at No. 1, with Drury (Mo.) replacing Emporia State (Ks.). Washburn (Ks.) is No. 2, followed by SPU and Emporia State.

Other West region teams listed include Cal Poly Pomona (No. 20), Chico State (No. 22) and Western Washington (No. 24). Seattle Pacific has defeated both Pomona and Chico previously. It meets Western Jan. 27 in Bellingham.

The Falcons (14-1) seek their 13th straight win Thursday night when they visit Central Washington.
