Bremerman, Chivers Send SPU Men to Third Straight Win, 75-67
December 4, 2004

SEATTLE (Dec. 4) Dustin Bremerman posted a season-high of 24 points and Jason Chivers added 15 points and 11 rebounds to push Seattle Pacific University past Northwest Nazarene, 75-67, in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference men¹s basketball game at Brougham Pavilion Saturday night.

The Falcons (2-0, 5-2), winners of three straight, also got 15 points from Chad Williams (Jr., 6-8, Burlington, Wa.) as the starting frontline accounted 54 points. SPU connected on 21 of 23 free throws, including six in a row in the final 68 seconds.

After Seattle Pacific threatened to pull away by taking a 14-poit lead in the opening minutes of the second period, Northwest Nazarene climbed back to 65-61 with 2 minutes, 48 seconds left.

A combination of the Crusaders committing three consecutive turnovers and Bremerman (So., 6-4, Yakima, Wa./Eisenhower) scoring four points on the other end restored the lead to 71-61 with 42 seconds to go. The key basket was a back door layup on a pass from Chivers with 43 seconds left.

Mesut Ademoglu led NNU (0-2, 2-4) with 23 points and nine boards. Raymond Butler came off the bench for 15 points, 11 in the second half.

The Falcons jumped on top early, then went cold for an 11-minute stretch before re-igniting. Bremerman hit his first three treys and scored 11 points to give SPU a 13-4 start.

Behind Ademoglu, the Crusaders gradually pulled back an trailed only 18-17 with 7:33 left in the half. Chivers (Sr., 6-8, Los Angeles, Ca.) reestablished himself underneath and Bremerman sank four free throws in the final minute for a 37-29 advantage.

Tony Binetti¹s (Jr., 6-1, Enumclaw, Wa.) 10th assist found Bremerman for a fastbreak layup and a 47-33 lead, the largest of the game, with 15:04 remaining.

Seattle Pacific shot 50 percent from the floor (24-48) but was out-rebounded 32-25, including 19-9 after halftime. NNU committed 19 turnovers and hsot just 41 percent (21-51).
