Lee, Threes Key SPU's Thanksgiving Win Over Hillsdale

HILO, Hi. (Nov. 25) ­ Jordan Lee scored 18 points and torrid outside shooting in the second half propelled Seattle Pacific University past Hillsdale (Mi.), 77-68, in the first round of the Hilo Shootout late Thursday night at Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium.

Dustin Bremerman (So., 6-4, Yakima, Wa./Eisenhower) added15 points and Tony Binetti (Jr., 6-1, Enumclaw, Wa.) 14 for the Falcons (2-1), who played on Thanksgiving for the first time.

Lee (Sr., 6-1, Tacoma, Wa./Life Christian) hit all three of his three-pointers and SPU was 7-9 outside the arc in the second period, when it pulled away from the Chargers, leading by as much as 17. Lee¹s steal and jumper capped a 10-2 burst which gave the Falcons the lead for good, 33-25, just before halftime.

Beginning with Binetti¹s trey to open the second half, Seattle Pacific began to expand the lead over Hillsdale. A Bremerman three made it 68-51 with 5:11 remaining. The Chargers (1-2), who were paced by Jason Weaver¹s 16, reeled off nine straight points, cutting it to seven with 61 seconds left, but they got no closer.

SPU shot 68 percent from the floor in the second half and was 10-19 on three-pointers overall. Bremerman led the team with seven rebounds and a career-high eight assists.

Seattle Pacific faces host Hawaii Hilo Friday night in the tournament¹s second round.
