SEATTLE (Nov. 24) Repeat selections
Jennifer Hull and Shannon Lovejoy were among six Seattle Pacific
University women's soccer players voted first team all-Far West
Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Hull (Sr., Eugene, Or./Sheldon), led NCAA
Division II goalkeepers in goals-against average during the
regular season. Lovejoy (Jr., Seattle, Wa./Seattle Prep), a
midfielder, scored seven goals and had nine assists.
They were joined on the first team by forward
Michelle Sanders (Sr., Centralia, Wa.), the team's top scorer with
10 goals; midfielder Sarah Melby (Sr., Mukilteo, Wa./Kamiak) and
defenders Michelle Everson (Jr., Tacoma, Wa./Stadium) and Carolyn
Nason (So., Lafayette, Co./Broomfield). Everson led the GNAC in
assists, with a school-record 11.
Sarah Martinez (Fr., Bothell, Wa./Cedar Park
Christian) was voted to the second team. All regional selections
are eligible for the All-America teams, to be selected next month.
No other team in the region had more than three
first-team selections or four overall. GNAC players for nine of
the 11 first-team selections and 13 altogether.
Seattle Pacific won its third straight
conference championship, qualified for the NCAA playoffs and
finished 19-1-2.
