SEATTLE (Nov. 8) Karen Dickson and Bjorn
Bostrom of Seattle Pacific University earned cross country athlete
of the week honors in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference
after securing trips to the NCAA Division II Championships.
Dickson (So., El Dorado Hills, Ca.) got her
fourth such honor this season after taking second place in the
West Regional in Bellingham. She qualifies for finishing among the
top five individuals. Dickson¹s first loss to a collegian
this season was dealt by defending NCAA champion Chelsea Smith of
BYU Hawaii.
Bostrom (So., La Conner, Wa./Bellingham) was
22nd in the men¹s regional race, improving his best time on
the Lake Padden course by 9 seconds despite wet conditions. The
Falcon men, who were led by Tim LeCount in 16th, earned their
first trip to a national meet in 43 years by taking third in the
regional.
The NCAA Championships are Nov. 20 in
Evansville, In.
