Six Different Falcons Score As No. 1 SPU Overwhelms NNU
October 30, 2004

SEATTLE, Wa. (Oct. 30)—Six different Falcons scored goals as No. 1-ranked and undefeated Seattle Pacific University recorded its 11th straight victory, overwhelming Northwest Nazarene 6-0 in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference women’s soccer game Saturday night at Interbay Stadium.

Jessica Henson (Sr., Spokane, Wa.) kicked off scoring in the match, connecting on the only goal of the first half to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead at intermission. The senior midfielder pounced on the rebound of a Megan Lienhard (Jr., Everett, Wa.) miss and finished from six yards.

Lienhard’s volley off a right-side cross from Jean Kolb (Jr., Eugene, Or.) at 53:04 opened the floodgates in the second half for SPU. Carolyn Nason (So., Lafayette, Co.) finished Heidi Jacobson’s (Jr., Bothell, Wa.) feed off a Michelle Everson (Jr., Tacoma, Wa.) free-kick at 63:13 and Everson garnered an assist on Sarah Melby’s (Sr., Mukilteo, Wa.) header four minutes later (67:07).

Leila Stalnaker (Sr., Auburn, Wa.) scored her first goal of the season off another Jacobson assist, beating NNU keeper Amanda Merrell at 69:25. Tricia Loomis (Fr., Des Moines, Wa.) dialed long-distance from 45-yards to finish out scoring in the match (80:11).

Merrell saved 16-balls on the night while Jennifer Hull (Sr., Eugene, Or.), Katie Ruggles (So., Eugene, Or.) and Erin Pierce (Milwaukie, Or.) combined for two. The Falcons out-shot Northwest Nazarene 24-2.
