MONMOUTH, Ore. (Oct. 28) Heidi Jacobson
scored just 79 seconds into the game as No. 1-ranked and
undefeated Seattle Pacific University recorded its 10th straight
victory, 2-0 over Western Oregon in a Great Northwest Athletic
Conference womens soccer game Thursday afternoon.
Jacobson (Jr., Kirkland, Wa./Cedar Park
Christian) put the Falcons up 1-0, beating WOU keeper Amanda
Nelson to the post after a flurry of blocked shots in the crease.
The score broke the record of SPUs earliest goal in its
four-year history, set last week after 82 seconds at Humboldt
State, and was Jacobsons fifth on the season--her first in
eight matches. Shannon Lovejoy (Jr., Seattle, Wa./Seattle Prep.)
was credited with an assist on the play.
Five minutes into the second half, Sarah Melby
(Sr., Mukilteo, Wa.) nodded home a Michelle Everson (Jr., Tacoma,
Wa./Stadium) free-kick for the final margin, to notch Melbys
third score of the season and Eversons seventh assist.
Lovejoy leads the team with eight.
SPU hit Western Oregons post four times,
out-shooting the Wolves 23-7. Falcon keeper Jennifer Hull (Sr.,
Eugene, Or./Sheldon) registered six saves in her 10th shutout.
The Falcons (8-0-1/16-0-1), unbeaten (30-0-3)
in their last 34 regular season games and in 29 consecutive GNAC
contests, have allowed just four goals in 17 games.
Seattle Pacific has been on the road for much
of the month of October, having played a half-dozen straight
matches away. It returns to its home turf of Interbay, where it
has won 22 matches in a row, to commence a three game home stand
against Northwest Nazarene. Kick-off is at 7PM.

2) SPU, Melby (Everson) 49:59.
