scored nine minutes into the second half of play to lift NCAA
Division II top-ranked Seattle Pacific University over Cal State
San Bernardino 1-0, in a non-conference womens soccer
tournament match Saturday afternoon at Cal State Monterey Bay
Soccer Complex.
Martinez (Fr., Bothell, Wa./Cedar Park
Christian) took a thru-ball from teammate Michelle Sanders (Sr.,
Centralia, Wa.) and slotted it to the left post at 54:30 to give
SPU its fifth consecutive victory. The Falcons are unbeaten in
their last 29 regular season games.
SPU (11-0-1) out-shot the Coyotes (4-5-2) 16-4
and dominated play the majority of the match. The Falcons, members
of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, are 8-1-1 in their
last ten match-ups with California Collegiate Athletic Conference
teams.
Seattle Pacific kicks off against tournament
host Cal State Monterey Bay on Monday at 12 p.m. in its next
contest. Its next five matches are on the road.
