Monmouth, Ore. (Oct. 7) Chelsey Myers led a balanced Falcon attack as Seattle Pacific swept Western Oregon 3-0 in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball match on Thursday night in Monmouth.

The Falcons improved to 4-4 in the GNAC and 8-8 overall with the 30-27, 30-28, 30-26 victory. Western Oregon dropped to 2-6 in the conference and 6-9 overall.

Myers (Jr., Minden, Nv./Douglas) pounded a team-high 11 kills to go along with 14 digs, two service aces and two blocks. Jessica Bauder (Sr., Richland, Wa.) added nine kills, 15 digs and two blocks. Rachel Biornstad (Fr., Kent, Wa./Kentlake) matched her career high for the third straight match with eight kills.

The Falcons took the momentum from the home side by coming back from a 15-10 deficit in game one. Western Oregon led 20-17 late, but SPU tallied five straight points to capture the lead for good. The Falcons outlasted the Wolves in a tight game two, and then opened the third game with a 6-0 run en route to the sweep.

Jenna Von Moos (So., Stanwood, Wa.) chipped in four kills, 27 assists and 10 digs in the victory. Kathleen Monda (Sr., Woodinville, Wa.) chipped in with five kills on a .235 hitting percentage. Tiffany Butac (So., Pearl City, Hi./Hawaii Baptist) had a team-high 20 digs and two service aces.

Mandy Veley led the Wolves with 15 kills and a .324 hitting percentage. Laura Berdhal added 10 kills and six block assists. Shawn Paulino had four kills, 12 digs and a match-high 35 assists.

The Falcons travel to Arcata, Ca. for a GNAC match at Humboldt State on Saturday at 7:00 pm.
