MAPLE FALLS, Wash. (Oct. 2) Freshman
Karin Rohde finished third overall for Seattle Pacific University
but the undermanned Falcons were defeated by Western Washington,
20-41, in a cross country dual meet Saturday at Silver Lake.
The Vikings, paced by race runner-up Laura
Trevellyan, claimed seven of the first nine scoring slots. SPU had
only one male runner.
Rohde (Fr., Bellingham, Wa./Mount Baker)
completed the 3-mile trail in 19 minutes, 16 seconds. Stafanie
Mills was the winner in 17:14 and Trevellyan was next in 18:10.
Kaitlian Rohde (Fr., Bellingham, Wa./Mount Baker) was the team's
No. 2 scorer and took sixth in the dual in 20:36.
Steve Miller (Fr., Edmonds, Wa./King's) was
47th overall in the men's race in 17:47.
The next meet for the Falcons is Saturday's
Western Washington Invitational at Bellingham's Lake Padden.
Seattle Pacific was missing many of its key
runners, who were attending a memorial service for Micah Kellcy.
An all-conference hurdler and June graduate of SPU, Kellcy was
killed in motorcycle-car accident Sept. 26 in Tacoma.
