Falcon Harriers Win Again in Alaska
September 25, 2004

FAIRBANKS (Sept. 25) Braving the cold for the second time in three days, the Seattle Pacific University cross country teams, behind Tim LeCount and Karen Dickson, once again defeated host Alaska Fairbanks in a short course dual Saturday at Birch Hill Park.

LeCount (Jr., Battle Ground, Wa.) led a parade of four SPU men across the finish line in the 4000-meter event as the Falcons nearly achieved a perfect score in beating the Naooks 16-39 in 34-degree temperatures. LeCount was timed in 11 minutes, 11 seconds, and was followed by Eddie Stricker (So., Richland, Wa.) in 11:18; Paul Mach (Sr., Seattle, Wa./King's) in 11:20 and Bjorn Bostrom (So., La Conner, Wa./Bellingham, Wa.) in 11:25.

Dickson (So., El Dorado Hills, Ca.) scored her third win in four meets, pulling away to win handily in 12:52. Her margin of victory was 41 seconds over Johanna Turunen of UAF. Karin Rohde (Fr., Bellingham, Wa./Mt. Baker) was a close third in 13:34. The 3-5 runners clinched the outcome, 22-33. Tracy Kuhn (Jr., Port Angeles, Wa.) was fifth (14:07), Megan Wrightman (Fr., Bend, Or.) sixth (14:09) and Nikki Jensen (So., Portland, Or.) seventh (14:23).

At the Saint Martin's Invitational in Lacey, Wa., Becky Knox (So., Denver, Co.) ran fourth for the Falcons, who did not field full men's or women's teams. Kelly Fullerton of Seattle University was the winner in 18:04. Knox completed the 5k in 19:14.
