FAIRBANKS Seattle Pacific University
runners Karen Dickson and Tim LeCount won their respective races
and led the Falcons to dual victories over Alaska Fairbanks in
freezing temperatures at the Nanook Long Course Invitational cross
country meet Thursday.
Dickson (So., El Dorado Hills, Ca.) won for the
second time in three outings, completing the 6000-meter course in
22 minutes, 42 seconds. Johanna Turunen of Alaska Fairbanks was
second in 23:58. After a morning snowfall, the temperature was 32
degrees at race time. Karin Rohde (Fr., Bellingham, wa./Mount
Baker) was third in 24:00 and SPU was a 20-35 team winner.
LeCount (Jr., Battle Ground, Wa.) claimed a
5-second win over teammate Bjorn Bostrom (So., La Conner,
Wa./Bellingham) in the men¹s 8k race. LeCount was clocked in
27:12 and Bostrom in 27:17. The Falcons took seven of the top
eight places and won 18-41. It was their second win in three
meets.
Seattle Pacific and UAF meet again Saturday in
a 4k race.
