SEATTLE (Sept. 11) Karen Dickson raced
to the women's individual title and the Seattle Pacific University
men claimed the Division II team crown at the Emerald City
Invitational cross country meet Saturday at Lower Woodland Park.
Dickson (So., El Dorado Hills, Ca.) finished a
comfortable 16 seconds in front of the second-place runner,
completing the 5000-meter course in 18 minutes, 16 seconds. Kelly
Fullerton of Seattle University was next in 18:32. Eastern
Washington's Camil Gibb was the top Div. I finisher, coming in
third at 18:39.
The Falcons, paced by Tim LeCount (Jr., Battle
Ground, Wa.) in third place, finished with three men in the top
10. LeCount was timed in 27:17, Bjorn Bostrom (So., La Conner,
Wa./Bellingham) was fourth in 27:21 and Doug Gibson (So., Yakima,
Wa./Riverside Christian) was ninth in 28:03.
Seattle Pacific scored 29 points, Western
Washington 53 and Warner Pacific 60.
In the women's team standings, Seattle U. won
the non-Div. I trophy with 41 points, followed by Northwest
College (54), SPU (59) and Western Washington (61).
