5th-Ranked Falcon Women Win 2-0 in Los Angeles
September 7, 2004

Complete Box Score

LOS ANGELES, Ca. (Sept. 7)—Shannon Lovejoy scored a goal and assisted on a Heidi Jacobson strike, as 5th-ranked Seattle Pacific University beat Cal State Los Angeles 2-0, in a non-conference women’s soccer match Tuesday night at Jesse Owens Stadium.

Lovejoy (Jr., Seattle, Wa./Seattle Prep.) assisted Jacobson (Jr., Kirkland, Wa./Cedar Park Christian) on a 15-yard finish to the left post to kick-off scoring, 13:30 into the first half, and hit net nearly three minutes later for the final margin (16:15) . Midfielder Jessica Henson (Sr., Spokane, Wa./University) crossed the ball from the left corner to teammate Megan Lienhard (Jr., Everett, Wa./Cascade) on the right side. Lienhard one-touched the ball to Lovejoy, who beat keeper Reyna Coca from ten yards out for the score.

Lovejoy, the Great Northwest Athletic Conference leader in points in 2003, has scored in each of the Falcons’ last three games.

Seattle Pacific goaltender Jennifer Hull (Sr., Eugene, Or./Sheldon) saved a pair of balls in the match; Coca batted two as well. The Falcons out-shot Cal State L.A. 10-9 and the teams were dead even on corner kicks at two apiece.

The win boosts the Falcons to a perfect 4-0 record heading into Friday night’s non-conference match-up with San Francisco State in San Francisco. Seattle Pacific returns to Interbay where it has won its last 18 matches in a row, to begin GNAC play against Western Washington on Sept. 15.
