SEATTLE (Sept. 7) Seattle Pacific
University goalkeeper James Ward (Sr., Salem, Or/Sprague) was
named men's soccer co-player of the week in the Great Northwest
Athletic Conference after helping the Falcons extend their
unbeaten string to three games.
Ward earned all-tournament honors at the
Seawolf Classic by saving six of seven shots on goal. He recorded
his 16th career shutout versus Cal State San Bernardino, a 2-0
win, and made a point-blank save to preserve the 1-1 draw with
Sonoma. He also made seven saves in a 1-0 home defeat of Cal Poly
Pomona.
Ward's goals-against average of 0.47 leads the
GNAC. Joining him on the all-tournament team was freshman defender
Drew Macha (Fr., Eugene, Or./Marist).
Seattle Pacific (2-1-1) resumes play Thursday
at San Francisco State.
