ROHNERT PARK, Calif. (Sept. 4) Brent
Egbert set-up the first goal and scored the second as Seattle
Pacific University won its second straight men's soccer game, 2-0
over Cal State San Bernardino in the first round of the Seawolf
Classic Saturday.
James Ward (Sr., Salem, Or./Sprague) stopped
three shots to earn his 15th career shutout and extend the
Falcons' (2-1-0) defensive scoreless streak to 210 minutes. It was
the first game of a three-week, seven-game trip for SPU.
Andy Willis (So., Gig Harbor, Wa.) opened the
scoring in the 17th minute, volleying a cross by Egbert (Sr.,
Bellingham, Wa./Sehome) into the net from 10 yards. It was the
first goal allowed by Cal State San Bernardino in three games.
Less than 13 minutes later, at 29:26, Nick
Letts (Jr., Dublin, Ca.) beat three defenders to endline before
cutting the ball back for the onrushing Egbert to smash into the
net from close range. Egbert finished with five of the team's 15
shots.
The Falcons held the Coyotes (2-1-0) to just
one first-half shot. Ward dived low to his left to save San
Bernardino's best scoring chance with four minutes remaining.
Seattle Pacific will face host Sonoma State in
