SEATTLE (Aug. 28) ­ Seattle Pacific University dropped its second and third straight volleyball matches at the UC San Diego Classic Saturday as the Falcons were swept by both No. 2-ranked UC San Diego and Cal State L.A. in RIMAS Arena.

The host Tritons (3-0) got nine kills from Bonnie Wilson and forced 29 SPU errors in winning 30-12, 30-17 and 30-19. Katie Ralph (Jr., Port Orchard, Wa./South Kitsap) led the visitors with six kills in just 10 attempts.

In the final match of the two-day tourney, Seattle Pacific (1-3) built early leads in the first two games, only to see the Golden Eagles (3-1) surge ahead. Cal State L.A. won 30-21, 30-20 and 30-27.

The latter game was tied at 22 before Ashley Hardwick hit three kills on the game¹s final five points. Te¹ra Epps led CSLA with 18 kills in 29 attempts. Ralph had 17 digs for SPU while Alyssa Given (Salinas, Ca.) topped the squad with nine kills.

SPU, which plays its first eight matches on the road, visits Cal Poly Pomona Wednesday.
