Women's Bid for Return to Elite Eight Begins Nov. 19
August 26, 2004

Complete 2004-05 Schedule

SEATTLE (Aug. 26) Seattle Pacific University's bid to repeats as women's basketball conference and regional champions will begin Nov. 19 when the Falcons seek to extend their 60-game regular season win streak against Warner Pacific.

The Falcons, who finished 30-1 and ranked No. 3 in NCAA Division II last season, host the Falcon Hoop Classic Nov. 19-20 as well as the GNAC/CCAA Challenge Dec. 29-30 at Brougham Pavilion. The latter tourney will feature a rematch of the West Region championship game versus Cal Poly Pomona. SPU has not lost a regular season game in the past two seasons, and has not lost a regular season home game since 2001.

Coach Gordy Presnell, seeking to strengthen the schedule, will take his team to North Dakota for a Thanksgiving weekend tournament. The Falcons also visit two other Div. II playoff participants, Sonoma State and Chico State, prior to Christmas. In all, six of 27 games are against tournament teams.

Seattle Pacific should once again be favored to win the Great Northwest Athletic Conference crown. Three starters plus each of the top reserves return from the team which repeated an 18-0 run through the conference campaign in 2004. Among the returnees are all-conference point guard Amy Taylor and center Brittney Kroon, the NCAA leader in blocked shots.

GNAC play begins at home Dec. 2 when Alaska Fairbanks visits. Western Washington, the GNAC runner-up, is the opponent for Senior Night Feb. 26. The regular season wraps-up Mar. 5 at Alaska Anchorage.
