DECATUR,
Ill. (Aug. 10) Jack Hoyt, head coach of track and field for
Seattle Pacific University, took the mens over-40 title in
the high jump and was runner-up in the pole vault at the USA
Masters Championships.
Hoyt, an SPU alumnus and former All-American
and Olympic hopeful in the decathlon, cleared 6 feet, 3 1/2 inches
(1.92m) and won the high jump on a tiebreaker. New Yorks
Igor Agaev finished at the same height.
In the pole vault, Hoyt went over the bar at
13-11 1/4 (4.25m). Jonathan Bartos of Ohio was first at 14-5 1/4.
Hoyt was also fourth in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.46 seconds.
