Women's Soccer Home Streak Extends Into '04 Opener
June 27, 2004

2004 Schedule

SEATTLE – A 14-game home winning streak will be on the line when the Seattle Pacific University women’s soccer team opens its season Aug. 28 against regional nemesis Cal State Dominguez Hills.

That game at Interbay Stadium will also be a rematch of last fall’s first-round playoff game, won by the Toros 2-1. The home win streak dates back to a 1-1 tie with Cal State Dominguez Hills in 2002.

The Falcons finished their third season 17-2-2 and No. 10 in NCAA Division II. They return 10 of 11 starters from the squad which won a second straight Great Northwest Athletic Conference championship.

Following three games at Interbay, SPU makes the first of three trips to California. GNAC play begins at home Sept. 15 versus Western Washington with the Falcons seeking to extend their conference unbeaten string to 21 games. After a string of six straight games on the road in October, the final three games will be played at home.

Among Coach Chuck Sekyra’s returnees are all-America selections Shannon Lovejoy and Jennifer Hull. Lovejoy led the team with 17 goals while Hull topped the NCAA in goals-against average (0.30).
