Men's Soccer Starts at Home Before Coast-to-Coast Trip
June 27, 2004

2004 Schedule

SEATTLE (June 18) – Anxious to become men’s soccer championship contenders once again, Seattle Pacific University will get an early indication of its prospects when the Falcons host regional power Cal State Dominguez Hills in the opening game of 2004 season.

SPU will face the Toros, NCAA Division II champions in 2000 and runners-up in ‘01, Aug. 28 at Interbay Stadium. It marks the first time the Falcons have opened a season at home since 1997. After an Aug. 30 game with Cal Poly Pomona, they embark on a arduous, 21-day, seven-game road trip stretching from the Bay Area in California to South Florida.

Seven of the final nine games will be played at Interbay. Defending Great Northwest Athletic champion Seattle University visits Oct. 8 and NCAA runner-up Chico State arrives Oct. 27.

Cliff McCrath, who guided his program to five national titles between 1978-93, returns 10 starters from a club which finished 9-8-2. Among the returnees are first team all-GNAC selections James Ward, Jeremy Yerkes and Ross Vaillancourt.
