Four Falcons Voted to Regional Academic Track Team
June 4, 2004

SEATTLE – Four members of the Seattle Pacific University track & field teams been voted to the Verizon CoSIDA Academic All-District VIII team. They are now finalists for the Academic All-America team to be announced next month.

Paul Mach (Sr., Seattle, Wa./King’s), the Great Northwest Athletic Conference indoor 800-meter champion, was the Falcons’ only repeat selection. Mach, also a three-time conference hurdles champion, is a computer science major with a 3.72 grade point average.

Tim LeCount (Jr., Battle Ground, Wa.), the GNAC outdoor 5000 winner, also made the team. He is a history major with a 3.66 GPA.

The SPU women recipients were Linda Blake (So., Richland, Wa.) and Jamie Witt (Jr., Folsom, Ca.). Blake won the conference heptathlon and is a chemistry major with a 3.96 GPA. Witt won the GNAC indoor mile. She is an English major with a 3.85.

All four were previously named to the Academic All-GNAC team announced last month.

The Verizon CoSIDA team is comprised of 10 athletes selected from schools in eight western states and two Canadian provinces.
